MON - FRI 8.30am: Hatha Vinyasa
SAT 8.30am: Deep Stretch Yin
ADVANCED BEGINNER TO INTERMEDIATE.
A carefully sequenced, well rounded practice incorporating slow but stronger transitions between standing poses and balances, leading up to the peak pose - either an arm balance, heating inversion, deeper backbends or seated poses demanding greater strength and flexibility.
Class opens with yogic dharma/sutra teachings and/or chanting.
A careful warm up and progressive sun salutations prepare the body for the standing poses and standing balances that follow.
These poses prepare one for the peak pose(s) to follow - which, depending on the students in the room, can include deeper backbends, arm balances, and/or inversions at the wall.
You will be offered the use of props, walls and variations so that you can move towards these poses safely and confidently through consistent practice.
Classes closes with seated poses (cooling twists, forward folds and hip openers) and savasana.
If time allows there will be pranayama and meditation.
ALL LEVELS.
A perfect practice to balance a busy life and active body - helping you to slow down, be present and release deep held tension in the breath, body and mind.
This is an ideal practice for all levels to improve flexibility and improve your breathing. It will bring balance to a stronger dynamic practice and healing if you are stressed, exhausted, or feeling under the weather.
It is the perfect way to start the weekend!
Poses are done on the floor using long holds, props and deep relaxing breathing to release deeply tension in the hips and shoulders, side body, lower back and lower belly. Inversions are cooling and restorative. Classes include pranayama and a longer savasana.
ALL LEVELS. NEW SERIES DATES TO BE ADVISED
This speciality series is designed for those new to the practice, teachers wanting master the art of teaching foundational poses well and experienced students wishing to review and integrate the foundational poses as part of their "maintenance practice".
Classes have a strong focus on standing poses and standing balances which are the doorway into all the more advanced family of poses - backbends, inversions, arm balances and seated poses requiring greater flexibility.
These poses are powerful ways to restore strength and mobility to our feet, build strong and open hips and ultimately and help free up the entire kinetic chain, improving mobility and strength in the spine, core and shoulders.
Although considered heating they also help us feel grounded, strong and calm. They can settle a busy mind and nervous system while giving the relaxed, energy to move forward in our day and life with confidence and grace.
Poses are taught in a variety of ways, and include the use of props and walls to support better alignment . Longer holds in the poses build strength, exploration, understanding and mastery of the poses.
There will be additional core work and cooling inversions before moving to gentle backbends, twists, seated hip openers and forward bends. The practice closes with savasana and if time allows, some pranayama. There are no arm balances and heating inversions. Cooling inversions are well supported with props and the wall.
Class will also include sharing of yogic dharmic teachings, mantra, pranayama and kriyas to ensure a well rounded practice.
