MAHA YOGA & WELLNESS grew out of my 20 years in the Health and Wellness Industry as a student, teacher and coach. and my desire to serve, support and inspire people to living their healthiest and happiest lives.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

ALL LEVELS.  We start with breathing practices to center, then a gentle warmup before moving to standing poses and standing balances (often supported with wall and props) to create strength and length in the legs and hips as well as freedom in the  spine and ribcage. Coming down to the floor we move to gentle backbends and twists, hip openers and forward bends. The practice closes with simple pranayama, savasana and sometimes a guided meditation. There is no core work or arm balances and any inversions are cooling and well supported. Use of Props is strongly encouraged

GENTLE HATHA FLOW

SIGN UP 

INTERMEDIATE.  A more dynamic and vigorous practice that includes sun salutations, standing poses more challenging transitions into standing balances.  This class includes core work, deeper backbends, arm balances and inversions as well as seated twists and hip openers that have greater flexibility demands. We close with pranayama and savasana. 
Inversions will require the use of a wall and blocks and straps are recommended to support better alignment in more challenging poses.

MIXED LEVEL VINYASA FLOW

Poses are done on the floor using long holds, props and deep relaxing breathing to help you slow down and “sink into and release deeply” tension in the hips and shoulders, side body, lower back and lower belly. Inversions are cooling and restorative. Classes include pranayama and a longer savasana.
A perfect practice if you are stressed, exhausted, under the weather, or to end a busy day or start the weekend.

"Know yourself, Heal Yourself".  Yoga is a healing practice.  Self Observation and self reflection are the foundation of self awareness and true integration of Mind - Body - Spirit.  No woo woo stuff but I do contain the physical practice within the insightful and inspiring yogic philosophy teachings that help you take your practice off the mat and out into your daily life.  !!!

we make it about more than just the poses

Teaching, rather than merely instructing,  I don't simply demonstrate at the front of the class. I offer precise verbal instructions and gentle adjustments helping you explore and define the safe edges of your practice with patience and care. You will hear both "no, not yet" and "GO FOR IT!"

My certifications in Personal Training, Biomechanics and Corrective Exercise bring a strong focus on intelligent sequencing and the use of props, variations and suitable progressions so that students may take ownership of their personal practice and progress safely even in a group class.
